For the Music Lovers

The popular Downtown at Sundown, Brookings Summer Music Series that lasts 7 weeks, begins July 13^th. This a free weekly music series that features local and area musicians, scrumptious foods from local Brookings vendors like Cubby’s Sports Bar and Grill. This fun event also features free face painting, dancing, inflatables and much more! Every Thursday night between July 13^th and August 27^th, 2017.

Then you have Music on Main brought to you by Nick’s Hamburger Shop in Downtown Brookings. Every Wednesday night at 6:00pm right in Nick’s Park, you can enjoy free live music from a new artist every week! Bring the kids, some chairs, and perhaps a tasty Nick’s burger (or two).

For the Family

Who doesn’t love a good movie? Every month, the Brookings Public Library offers a free movie night for all ages!

There’s always something fun going on at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota! Play Dates, Open Studios, Sensory Friendly Play, Science Sundays and more.

Any racing fans out there? Check out the University Plains Speedway Go Kart Racing! The South Dakota Kart Club organization is made up of racing enthusiasts who live for “The fastest kart racing in the upper Midwest!” Admission is $5 - $15, and starts July 15^th through September 3^rd, 2017 (schedule subject to change).

Don’t forget about all of the great plays from the Brookings Community Theatre and Prairie Repertory Theatre!

Not Too Far Away

If you haven’t experienced the history and magic of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant, it’s something you definitely should! Not too far away in DeSmet, SD, you can catch Little House on the Prairie performances starting July 7^th through July 23^rd at 8:00pm.

You can also join the city of Arlington, SD, as they celebrate Arlington Days July 27^th through 31^st. Bean bag tournament, princess contest, local bar entertainment, fishing derby, softball tournament, street dance and so much more!

Then there’s the ever so popular Aurora Gala Days, taking place August 4^th and 5^th. City-wide rummage on August 4th, and on August 5^th there’s the Fun Run 5K, parade at 11:00am, Car Show, Kids Pedal Pull and more- concluding with a great street dance.

These awesome community events all help make this area in South Dakota such a wonderful, beautiful, and fun place to live.
