Every Monday Morning at 8:15am, join me on my Facebook page as I sit down with a local lender, and do a live interview and talk about a Mortgage Tip that may help YOU with your next Real Estate Purchase.

This morning I sat down with Mark Waterman from Great Western Bank. Mark talked about your credit scores/rating and how he might be able to help you get your credit in line if it is something that needs some attention.  That will put you in a better position to make an offer on a home when you are ready.  You can reach Mark at 605.627.0602 or Mark.Waterman@GreatWesternBank.com  His office is located at 1302 6th St., Brookings SD 57006 or on the web at www.GreatWesternBank.com.

- All right, good morning everybody. It's Monday morning, 8:15 on the dot. That means it must be Monday Morning Mortgage Tip. Shane here, with the Brookings Home Team. Boy, I keep messing that up. I don't know why. I gotta get used to that. Brookings Home Team, powered by Century 21. And I've got Mark here from Great Western Bank and he's gonna give us all a little tip here; a Monday Morning Mortgage Tip. Be looking for his information, as normal, on the sides, on top, down below, wherever your device will allow you to see it. If you have any questions after this, please reach out to Mark and check with him and get the answers that you need for your questions. So what have you got for us today, Mark?

- All right. So this morning, thank you Shane by the way, Shane's always asking for us to talk about specific items that have come up in recent conversations, that might apply to a specific person or situation, I guess. Mine's more of a reiteration of some conversations that I've had recently with some applicants who have come in who might not even necessarily apply as of right now. Some things you can do as the buyer, to help yourself, is to make sure your credit's squared away. I would certainly recommend that. You can go out to AnnualCreditReport.com. Make sure that everything's good to go on your end. No collections, continuing to make your payments on time, pay down your revolving debt balance; that will help your score. Then if you do have derogatory things, maybe let just a little bit of time pass before you actually apply. That would be one thing I would recommend. Square away your credit and then if you have any questions, you can certainly give me a call and we can discuss that. Another thing that is good to know is have an idea as to how much money you want to put down, on how much money you want to retain as assets to help pay for the mortgage once you do get it. And obviously, at the end of the day, meeting with the mortgage lender is some of those things that they're gonna help you with. Certainly not everybody is in the same situation. Every scenario is unique. Everybody who walks in and has a conversation with me is in a different situation. So I would just recommend, if you want to schedule a meeting, it's certainly no obligation. You don't have to actually apply to have a conversation with the mortgage loan officer. You can have a conversation, see where your situation fits, get yourself squared away, and then actually apply and start working with myself and Shane during the process to help make sure you're getting the best rates possible, and you're in the right program possible to fit your mortgage needs.

- Perfect, all right, there's that information from Mark. Like I said, if you have any questions for him, please reach out to him. I'll have all of his information on this post here. If you have any questions, any different type of questions that you'd like answered here, please let us know. Reach out to Mark or myself, and we'd be happy to answer that on our next episodes. Before I forget, don't forget we have Pie Day over at Perkins this Wednesday, from 4 to 8. A free slice of pie if you come on in. Myself and my team will be there from 4 to 8, being able to chat with you and hopefully get to see some old clients, some new clients, and some fun clients. Not that everybody's not fun, but--

-

- That didn't come out right. So I hope to see you on Wednesday from 4 to 8. Like I said, feel free to reach out to Mark here at any time. He'd be happy to talk to you. So until next Monday, guys, thanks for watching. We'll talk to you later.
